PESSCL Projects for Golf Clubs
PESSCL Projects

PE School Sports Club Links is a government initiative run by DfES (Dept for Education and Skills) in conjunction with DCMS (Dept for Culture, Media and Sport). It is intended to promote sport on the school curriculum and foster links with local sports clubs. It is directed through specialist Sports Colleges who will have developed partnerships with surrounding secondary and primary schools. Currently, there are over 400 specialist Sports Colleges in England. To support PESSCL projects, there are significant grants available from the sponsoring government departments. The grant is intended to fund equipment and coaching, in conjunction with the linked golf club.

Now that Golf is recognised by Sport England as one of the top 10 sports in England, golf is eligible to become part of a PESSCL project.

PESSCL projects are administered by the Golf Foundation, on behalf of government. In 2006, some 40 projects are planned, involving golf. Of this number, the BB&O Golf Partnership are hoping to obtain two or three projects to enable golf to be firmly placed on the school/college curriculum and to develop the all-important links with local golf clubs.

To ensure the maintenance of standards and good practice, the golf clubs involved should either already have obtained their Junior GolfMark accreditation or be working towards it.

More information will be provided when these projects have been awarded.
